Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

QUESTIONS REGARDING PRODUCTS

1. Where can I find replacement bulbs for my "itty bitty" Booklight?

Generally, all Barnes and Noble Superstores and B. Dalton Booksellers carry replacement bulbs for the "itty bitty" Booklight.
If you do not have any of these stores in your area, please contact us, and we will be glad to refer you to a store in your area that carries replacement bulbs.

2. How do I replace my "itty bitty" Booklight bulb?

First, turn your booklight off and disconnect it from its power source (adapter or battery) Taking the head of the booklight between your hands, snap the front part off. The action is akin to snapping a pencil or spaghetti. Don't worry -- it won't break! Twist off the old bulb and discard. Screw in new bulb and replace head, making sure the reflecter opening is facing down.

QUESTIONS REGARDING DESIGN

1. Do you use outside designers?

For the most part, Zelco does all of its design and engineering in-house. We have, however, used outside designers from time to time. We are primarily looking for "Zelco-type" products -- that is, well-conceived, well-designed, very functional, and well-executed. We suggest, before submitting a product for consideration, you obtain intellectual property protection for your ideas in the form of a patent.

2. How can I become part of the award-winning Zelco Design Team?

At the present time, there are no openings available on our product development team. However, you may send us your resume and we would be happy to review it. Possible positions on the Team include:
graphic artists -- designing packaging and literature (including copy)
electrical engineers
industrial designers -- must have some knowledge of materials and their capabilities.

QUESTIONS REGARDING GREEN PRODUCTS

1. What does the garbage logo and R stand for?

Zelco Industries, Inc. is committed to protect the environment and human health. Our products not only manufactured in an environment that won't damage human health during manufacturing cycle but we also continuously improve package designs allowing consumer recycle waste to minimize the impact on our environment.

In addition, we began to introduce electrical and electronic equipments that do not contain above the maximum concentration level of restricted substances and comply with EU Directive. RoHS, an EU Directive, stands for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment. RoHS restricts the use of 6 hazardous substances (Lead - Pb, Mercury - Hg, Cadmium - Cd, Hexavalent Chromium - CrVI, Polybrominated Biphenyls - PBB, and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ether - PBDE) and bans products from the EU markets that contain more than its allowed. Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) aims to minimize the effect of electrical and electronic equipment waste by manufacturing products that are recyclable and reusable.

All our products that have the crossed garbage symbol (WEEE) and R (RoHS) on packaging must not be disposed with your regular garbage. If product is not recycled properly it will allow chemicals, precious metals and toxins causing contamination. Electrical and electronic products' lifetime shortened over the years as their pollution to our environment and health increased. To make our environment safer please contact your local authorities or ask the store for the proper way to recycle your electrical and electronic product.

2. How about the other Zelco products?

There are many other ways to protect environment and Zelco’s products can help you to contribute to this cause by many other ways. You would be amazed how easy it is.

Products with LED light last longer because they burn out slower than regular, incandescent light bulbs; therefore, there is no need for changing LED light as often. This makes LED light environmental friendly with the addition that it does not contain mercury. LED light is energy efficient because it produces more light than incandescent light bulb, making battery powered electrical and electronic devices energy efficient.

Some products can also be called green by the way they function and used in the everyday life:
Safety Fish #501X2 prevents the over flooding of bath water. Designed to warn in case the water is level is above desired one, preserving water and saving up on electricity.
The 2nd Degree #0810X allows double-checking of temperature both inside and outside. Inside temperature can be adjusted saving money on heat and air conditioning bills.
Both Mangia! #1650X and BBQtensils #6010 are dishwasher safe. Tons of plastic, and sticky grill utensils fill up household garbage every year. By reusing utensils instead of replacing them, we can greatly contribute conserving our environment.
